The MXL Technology Division of Marshall Electronics is now shipping the new MXL .009 USB 24-bit condenser microphone. The MXL .009 is intended for broadcast and music recording directly into the digital domain. Applications include overdubbing raw video footage in the field, radio commercials, voice-overs, music and podcasting.
The new USB microphone offers full-range sound and connects directly to a USB input on a computer without the need for an external mic preamp. In essence, it acts as a plug-and-play device for both Windows and Macintosh computers, requiring no special drivers. Simply connect it to a computer's USB port, and installation is quick and effortless.
Features of the MXL .009 include the voltage converters, which operate the analog front end similar to pure analog mics that require 48V phantom power. The mic features 24-bit/96K recording, a 32mm condenser capsule with 6µ gold diaphragm and low noise analog front end, and 114dB dynamic range. The mic has controls for gain, headphone jack, and a control that lets you set the mix between playback and recording for monitoring of multitrack recordings. The studio-quality headphone amplifier handles any headphone in the range of 32ohms-200ohms.
The new MXL .009 ships with an aluminum flight case, desktop stand, mic stand adapter, 10ft USB cable, microfiber cleaning cloth and users manual.
