Masstech and SGL support SMTPE standard for exchanging archive material
At IBC2007, Masstech Group and Software Generation, Ltd. (SGL) are showing the progress they’ve made toward the creation of a SMPTE standard that will allow for the interchange of material between archive management systems.
In 2006, Masstech Group and SGL helped form the V16 SMPTE standard committee that, along with other vendors, wants to solve the issue of minimizing proprietary system limitations.
The SMPTE V16 standard will provide a definition of an exchange format and will enable a video file written in this format to be readable by any archive management system. The format will also be data-tape-drive independent.
