Media 100 to Demo Resolution-Independent HD/SD Editing at NAB

For editors working with multiformat source material, Media 100 plans to demonstrate the Media 100 iHD, a Mac OS X-based HD/SD editing system, at NAB2003. The nonlinear system uses Media 100's HDX technology, featuring 10-bit uncompressed HD and SD I/O and real-time format conversion between HD and SD formats.

With HDX, Media 100 says its iHD is the first to support resolution-independent mixing and matching of HD and SD source material in the same timeline in real time. HDX has real-time motion-adaptive de-interlacing with edge detection, 3:2 pulldown processing and cropping, scaling and letterboxing for conversion between images of 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios.

The iHD also incorporates Media 100 i software, which includes editorial, content design and interoperability functions. The expected price is under $10,000.
