The focus of this year’s Digital Cinema Summit April 22-23 will be immediate and near term applications. It will include case studies, expert tutorials, keynotes and panels that examine practical issues arising from the production, post-production, distribution and presentation of digital cinema.
The summit is again being held in conjunction with the NAB convention April 22-27 in Las Vegas. NAB, Entertainment Technology Center at the University of Southern California (ETC-USC) and the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers are organizing the event. 2006 marks the fifth year of the summit.
The Digital Cinema Summit is designed for people in the entertainment, entertainment technology and creative and technical production and postproduction arenas.
SMPTE will produce the program on the first day of the event. It will focus on digital cinema mastering, distribution and exhibition issues, including creating the D-cinema package, 2K and 4K projection technologies, 3-D installation and its visual/psychological impact. The program also will offer a worldwide progress report on digital cinema installations in theaters.
ETC-USC will produce the April 23 program, which will include looks at creating 3-D content, new digital cameras, color management software and services and production and post-production projectors and displays through neutral analysis, user experiences and recent projects.
