Nagravision, QUALCOMM to develop CA solution for MediaFLO
Nagravision and QUALCOMM are teaming up to develop an integrated MediaFLO mobile TV conditional access (CA) solution.
The off-the-shelf solution will allow mobile TV service operators to manage subscriber promotions, free previews, short-term access (one-hour, one-day), impulsive pay-per-view, order-ahead pay-per-view and pay-per-time. It will offer support for mobile handsets as well as portable media players, in-car entertainment systems and portable televisions, among other devices.
Gemalto, a developer of digital security solutions, is providing MediaFLO-enabled UpTeq USIM mobile TV cards for the system. In addition to extra security, the cards allow for remote management, enabling mobile operators to upgrade the security level whenever necessary.
Nagravision recently integrated its CA system with the Alcatel-Lucent Mobile Interactive TV platform, enabling service protection and interactivity for mobile TV services on DVB-H and DVB-SH networks.
