German public broadcaster Südwestrundfunk (SWR) recently ordered a satellite newsgathering (SNG) vehicle with satellite uplink and TV production technology from ND SatCom.
The satellite uplink consists of a SkyRAY Compact 1500plus antenna subsystem that is HD/SD-ready. The satellite communications technology is operated by a complete ND SatCom monitoring and control system for SNG vehicles.
The production SNG vehicle, the first built by ND SatCom for the German market, has an increased emphasis on TV production equipment. Besides two complete HD-camera production setups, including an HD/SD video switcher and a digital audio mixer, the truck’s production equipment includes a 40 x 48 video router, a video monitoring system and a 24-port digital intercom system. The vehicle is based on a Mercedes Benz Vario.
