Numark has announced the Q3 availability of LP 2 CD, an advanced USB turntable with internal flash memory and CD recorder for studio-grade digital archiving. LP 2 CD is a professional tool for conversion of vinyl recordings to CD, WAV or MP3, with or without a computer. Digital files can be used in any CD player, iPod, hard disk player or other digital format. The system operates either as a stand-alone converter or together with a computer system for greater user control.
The LP 2 CD provides high-quality digitization via non-simultaneous conversion and burning processes. By burning CDs after vinyl is recorded to the 1GB internal flash memory, the problem of CD recorder vibrations interfering with the turntable needle is eliminated. LP 2 CD also employs Alesis mastering technology, including high-resolution, 24-bit, 192kHz A-D converters for low distortion and clock jitter, resulting in better sound quality than consumer-grade CD converters. EZ Vinyl Converter 2 (PC) and EZ Audio Converter (Mac) software is provided with the product, helping reduce noise artifacts often found in older recordings. No computer is required, although custom mix CDs and music export can be done via integrated USB audio interface.
