On Call Communications featured IP-based SNG at SATCON 2009
Engineers and operations professionals had the chance to test various encoding rates with IP video encoders and decoders in HD and SD MPEG-4 using a live camera at the On Call Communications exhibit during SATCON 2009, Oct. 14-15, in New York City.
The video encoders were integrated into the 96cm QuickSPOT satellite newsgathering (SNG) system, a compact configuration designed for use on small SUV's or mobile newsgathering operations.
The IP-based system includes Internet access and IFB-compatible voice lines for a complete communications system. SD systems are upgradeable to HD.
QuickSPOT’s automatic setup allows a non-technical operator to be on-air and ready to transmit broadcast-quality video within five minutes of arrival on the scene.
