Panasonic Adds Features to Multiformat VTR
Panasonic Broadcast has released a version of its D-5 HD SD/HD multiformat mastering VTR AJ-HD3700 in which SD uncompressed content for PAL can be edited and mastered on the same VTR used for NTSC distribution. The revised AJ-HD3700A model, which features eight audio channels, can record and playback both 625 PAL and 525-line cassettes as well as D-5 tapes from the previous versions of the machine.
The model has 4:2:2 digital 10-bit component recording with 74.25 MHz (Y) and 37.125 MHz (Pb/Pr) sampling, while recording and playback is in 1080/23.98p and 1080/24p. Analog audio input/output and metadata record and playback functions are built-in without an option card.
The AJ-HD3700A records 124 minutes in 1080/59.94i, 720/59.94p and 480/59.94i; 149 minutes in 1080/50i and 108025p; 112 minutes in 625/50i; and 155 minutes in 24p. It is rack-mountable with variable-speed slow motion control.
