Panasonic Announces 6X Write Speed Media for Blu-ray
By TVTechnology
published Panasonic Consumer Electronics Co. says that it has developed what it claims to be the world’s first write-once Blu-ray discs with 6X writing speed.
Panasonic says that it is launching the new product to meet consumer demands for writing and reading large amounts of data at higher speeds. Transfer speed claimed for the new discs is 216 Mbps. The discs are also said to have a wide power margin at speeds from 1X to 6X, enabling high quality recording in the event of fluctuations in the laser power being used for recording data.
Two versions are currently available, one with a 25 GB capacity and another that can store 50 GB.
