QSC has announced its latest powered speaker, the HPR122i. Capable of pole-mount deployment or flyable with nine integral M10 suspension points, the new model offers 500W of power and an output range or 53Hz-20kHz. Equipped with a 12in low frequency driver with a 3in voice coil and neodymium magnet structure, the two-way enclosure features a compression driver with a 1.4in diaphragm coupled to a 75-degree conical horn at the high end.
Unlike some powered loudspeakers incorporating low-cost chip amps, the HPR122i's proprietary power module offers the same circuit design used on QSC’s RMX Series amplifiers. Thick, deeply finned aluminum heat sink extrusions offer mechanical strength and an abundance of surface area to promote cool operating temperatures, even during extreme use. The power module also includes signal-processing functions tailored to the speaker system's specific needs. Each amplifier channel, for example, is equipped with its own limiting within parameters optimized across the operable bandwidth.
Constructed of premium birch plywood, the HPR122i features a black textured paint finish, ergonomically designed handles and 16-gauge perforated steel grille. The enclosure measures 27in by 14.5in by 15in, weighs 60lbs and is available for immediate shipment. QSC will be featuring the HPR122i at the upcoming NAMM show in Anaheim, Jan. 18-21.
