QSC tabs AudioScience ASI2416 as new CobraNet interface
QSC Audio has discontinued its RAVE series of CobraNet audio interface devices for loudspeaker and amplifier management. The firm has selected the AudioScience ASI2416 series as the recommended replacement for the RAVE series, providing the full functionality of the RAVE series plus additional features.
The ASI2416 is a modular CobraNet audio interface in a 1RU configuration. It can accommodate up to four function-specific modules, allowing up to 16 channels of analog or AES/EBU I/O. Each module has a unique, interchangeable connector, allowing a choice of terminal block, RJ-45 StudioHub or 50-pin Centronics jacks with XLR breakout cables.
“The modularity and termination options allow for greater flexibility for the user,” says Richard Gross, president of AudioScience. “The end user can have balanced analog I/O, digital I/O and any of three terminations for up to 16 channels of audio in a single box. Coupling these options with our powerful Texas Instruments 32-bit floating point DSP for sophisticated switching and mixing results in a very powerful product.”
Standard SNMP-based CobraNet tools — CobraNet Discovery, for example — can be used to configure CobraNet routing. ASI2416 specific control of analog levels and volumes is provided by AudioScience application software. An SDK is freely available for developers along with sample code to enable straightforward integration of extended processing features into third-party applications.
