Rohde & Schwarz highlighted its new R&S Nx8300 family of air-cooled medium-power transmitters at NAB2008.
Depending on the standard supported, digital output power of the transmitters reaches 1.8kW in a single rack. The medium-power transmitter family has been designed for energy efficiency to reduce operating costs. Additionally, the compact design lowers space-related costs.
The transmitter family supports analog and digital TV standards, including ATSC, MediaFLO, DMB-T, DVB-T/-H, and ISDB-TB. Additionally, it is ready to accommodate A-VSB, should the industry agree on the standard for mobile TV broadcasting.
New amplifier technology and the optimized cooling made it possible to reduce energy consumption by up to 15 percent. The transmitters can be operated in both three-phase and single-phase supply networks.
