Due to a new software upgrade, the Rohde & Schwarz model SFU Broadcast Test System now supports the SCTE 40 standard. In addition to its current test parameters for broadcast and mobile TV standards, the SFU now also provides cable equipment manufacturers and cable network operators with the ability to test and verify that end-user terminal equipment meets all SCTE 40 standards.
The SFU offers the capability, through predefined set-ups, digital and analog interferers and signal impairment signals to verify that signals meet the SCTE-40 specifications. This standard specifies a group of measurements and signal interferers injected into the RF path. The SFU as a signal source provides the needed micro reflections, AM hum, AWGN, phase noise and adjacent channel (analog/digital) all at the same time as required by the standard.
The single 4RU unit gives equipment designers and manufacturers the ability to bench test receiving/decoding equipment for quality assurance before delivery to cable companies. Cable service providers can use the system for independent testing of end-user equipment to ensure reliable network performance.
