Scientific-Atlanta to Showcase AVC, DVB-S
At NAB, Scientific-Atlanta is demonstrating MPEG-4/MPEG-2 HDTV and SDTV encoding in a single device, MPEG-4 advanced video compression, DVB-S-compliant distributed storage applications, digital headend reception solutions featuring CAM interface, and new, professional decoder technology.
The company's third-generation D9054 HDTV Advance Compression Encoder delivers digital video in twisted pair/DSL environments and supports multiple applications including IPTV, contribution, DVB-T and xDSL.
Scientific-Atlanta is also showcasing its second-generation MPEG-4 SD encoder (Model D9034), which supports both MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 part 10 (H.264) video in the same chassis, and its Digital Content Manager (DCM), an extremely dense, MPEG-2 video processing platform that can help launch and manage current and future digital services. The D9034 encoder features built-in hardware for an extra channel of MPEG-4 for picture-in picture (PIP) applications, adaptive motion compensated temporal filtering with PreSightPlus noise reduction, and an integrated frame synchronizer.
DCM deploys game-changing technologies in only 2 RU to enable the ability to simultaneously process up to 2,000 video streams, including processing, DVB simulcrypt scrambling, and digital program insertion.
Scientific-Atlanta is in Booth SU1608.
