Scripps Television stays with Nucomm for BAS relocation project

Nucomm is helping the Scripps Television Station Group to relocate its ENG operation to the assigned

The station group networks are in the midst of receiving their new Nucomm equipment and it should be fully installed and updated by the end of the year.

Since 2000, WPTV has used Nucomm’s systems, such as its dual path equipment, to provide uninterrupted coverage to its viewers. As part of the BAS process, Nucomm is updating equipment valued at over $1 million. WPTV will receive 15 new transmitters, eight receivers and a new control system.

Although the 10 Scripps networks are geographically dispersed and do not typically share equipment, having all stations linked with the same vendor offers a range of benefits. The stations’ staff will be able to move around the country in times of emergency and be immediately familiar with the equipment on hand.

Scripps includes six ABC-affiliated stations, three NBC affiliates and one independent. The company operates broadcast television stations in Detroit, MI, Cleveland, OH, Cincinnati, OH, Phoenix, AZ, Tampa, FL, Baltimore, MD, Kansas City, MO, West Palm Beach, FL, Tulsa, OK and Lawrence, KS.
