Set-top for Chinese IPTV Delivered
Firms in Texas and Beijing have created a single-chip set-top for IPTV services in China. Texas Instruments of Dallas and the National Source Coding Audio & Video Technologies in Beijing said the model HM2006 box is built on TI's DaVinci platform, simultaneously decodes the Chinese DTV standard, AVS, and H.264.
The DaVinci digital signal-processing platform allows designers to add video functions to an application because it has a programmable engine for writing to an application programming interface. The set-top decodes AVS, H.264, MPEG-2, MPEG-4 and WMV video.
In announcing the delivery of the HM2006, Texas Instruments noted that In-Stat pegs China's IPTV subscribers at 6.3 million by 2010, generating annual revenues of $888 million.
