Snell & Wilcox aims new MEMPHIS encoder at HD, IT conversion
By TVTechnology
published Snell & Wilcox introduced the MEMPHIS stand-alone SD and HD MPEG-2 encoder at NAB2005.
MEMPHIS is based on the company’s Ph.C. phase correlation motion estimation and Prefix compression pre-processing. It accepts SD and HD 1080i/720p formats, uncompressed PCM, MP1L2, Dolby and AC-3 audio inputs. It can encode any MPEG-2 profile.
MEMPHIS can initially be integrated as a conventional encoder into a traditional ingest-for-playout environment and later be upgraded to a fully configured ingest workstation for use in an IT-based infrastructure.
