Snell & Wilcox to Showcase HD Conversion Gear, Kahuna Upgrades
At NAB2007, Snell & Wilcox will highlight many products for launching HD services and leveraging media across the range of distribution platforms.
The company will showcase the Protus Ph.C Video Image Conditioning System for Mobile TV and Web TV, a video image conditioning system that allows providers of mobile TV and Web TV services to increase picture quality dramatically and/or reduce bandwidth requirements for delivering content to wireless, IPTV, and Internet delivery platforms.
Snell & Wilcox has also brought its standards conversion technology into the HDTV domain to create a motion-compensated HD standards converter. The Alchemist Ph.C-HD provides complete standard and format conversion, with HD frame rate conversion for both 1080i and 720p standards, as well as SD standards conversion between 50 Hz and 60 Hz material.
The company is also debuting Alchemist Ph.C-IP, file-based standards conversion software for the Helios platform, to improve file-based international program exchange. The Alchemist Ph.C-IP delivers transparent bidirectional conversion of video, audio, and metadata between 50 Hz and 60 Hz television standards.
Snell & Wilcox's iCR automated content repurposing workstation will make its U.S. debut at NAB2007. In a single workstation, iCR combines image conditioning tools, content mastering, quality control, and content repurposing functionality, drastically reducing the time required for repurposing.
The company will also show the latest version of its Kahuna SD/HD multiformat production switcher, now available as a 6 RU device, bringing Kahuna's big power to one-M/E and two-M/E applications. A number of new compact control panels also are available.
Also, on display will be IMPAKT, the 3D DVE option for the Kahuna production switcher. IMPAKT now includes a new range of DVE options including ripple, swirl, glow, warp, melt, and flat and 3D shatter effects, as well as new functions enabling use of preset triangular-based and other effects.
Snell & Wilcox will be in booth SU4220.
