Sony features PMW-EX1 solid-state recording camcorder
At IBC2007, Sony made the European launch of the XDCAM EX compact camcorder, which records to its newly developed flash memory cards, the SxS PRO.
The PMW-EX1 offers the benefits of tapeless workflow and selectable bit rates. It uses three newly developed 1/2in Exmor CMOS sensors, each with an effective pixel count of 1920 x 1080 to produce images in full HD resolution.
The SxS memory card, which realizes 800Mb/s high-speed data transfer, enables nonlinear capabilities such as instant random access and file-based operation. Equipped with two SxS memory card slots, the PMW-EX1 can record up to 100 minutes of HD footage at 35Mb/s or 140 minutes at 25Mb/s using two 16GB SxS memory cards.
