Speedyfunk TV equips HD trucks with Advent transmission system
Speedyfunk TV, a live broadcast production company based in Munich and Vienna, has purchased two HD-ready DVE 5000 satellite transmission systems from UK manufacturer Advent Communications. Speedyfunk operates a fleet of digital newsgathering trucks with satellite uplinks, cameras, editing and crews for live production.
ORF and other broadcasters will use the new Advent-equipped trucks during EURO 2008 in Austria and Switzerland. The DVE 5000 electronics system includes an SD/HD encoder with an integrated L-Band modulator and HPA, an antenna controller unit with an optional satfinder, a drive control unit for motorized antennas and a new block upconverter for Ku band.
The system is made up of an encoder, upconverter and an HPA controller in a single unit, taking up half the size of traditional 19in rack mounted systems. It can be mounted in a satellite truck or carried in flight cases. Speedyfunk has integrated its DVE 5000 units into trucks that are also equipped with Advent satellite uplinks.
Advent Communications supplies a range of satellite fly-aways and drive-aways that are known for their superb reliability in difficult conditions. Speedyfunk bought its first digital newsgathering system in 1994, making it one of the first European production companies to offer digital satellite transmission. Today, Speedyfunk works internationally, covering news and sports events all over Europe and the Middle East.
