Studio Technologies introduces Model 92 cable tester for DT12
Skokie, IL-based Studio Technologies has announced the introduction of its Model 92 DT12 Tester designed to allow broadcasters to quickly and accurately check the performance of 37-pin DT12 cables. The Model 92 verifies that all signal paths are fully functional, minimizing the chance of cable-related audio failure. The unit supports testing of both FK37-type multiconnectors and the 12-XLR fanouts typically found at the input side of the cable.
The Model 92 is designed to permit testing either by channel mode to test each of the 12 associated audio channels, or in pin mode for independent testing of each FK37 pin. Both automatic and manual cable testing are supported. For live sports broadcast events, channel mode offers fast go/no go verification of cable performance.
Whichever mode is selected, precise test results are displayed on the LED display, with the exact nature of any problems revealed via error codes. In permanent installations of situations where cabling has already been run in preparation for a broadcast event, a pair of Model 92s can be used together to perform end-to-end testing.
Housed in a rugged aluminum enclosure, the Model 92 DT12 Tester features solid-state LED displays and ESD-protected inputs and outputs. An internal rechargeable 12V sealed battery provides power for more than eight hours of continuous operation. The Studio Technologies Model 92 is now shipping.
