Telefonica O2 selects atecom technology for DTV network
Atecom, a German-based developer of network adaptors for broadcast applications, will supply its FALCON multiservice network adaptors to Telefonica O2, a major telecommunication operator serving more than 42 million customers. Atecom’s equipment will help Telefonica O2 expand its DVB-T services in the Czech Republic.
The DTV market in the Czech Republic is expanding very fast now that the Czech Communications Authority has mandated a digital switchover on Nov. 11, 2011. The total number of digital television households grew from 4.2 to 19.2 percent during the first quarter 2008.
By deploying the FALCON system, Telefonica O2 will increase its market share in the Czech Republic by building a digital network available to millions of Czech viewers.
Atecom, with headquarters in Aachen, Germany, markets network solutions for the transport of DVB-T and DVB-H content over almost any type of fiber, cable or radio-link network.
