Telos debuts new multichannel IP codec at NAB

At NAB2007, Telos Systems is introducing a new addition to its Zephyr family, the Zephyr iPort MPEG Gateway. The iPort is a new codec capable of transporting up to eight channels of bidirectional stereo audio between locations, using QoS guaranteed IP networks.

Zephyr iPort is equipped with a Livewire interface; when used as part of an IP-Audio network, iPort transports eight channels of stereo audio plus control between two Livewire-equipped sites over an IP link. Connectivity is via Ethernet cable. The use of Livewire networks helps the new iPort achieve its goal of user-friendly design. Board operators will appreciate the simplicity of use, requiring only assignment of the codec source to a fader to initiate two-way audio flow.

Zephyr iPort is easy to integrate into facilities already using Axia IP-Audio networks, while using it with a directly connected Axia Analog or AES Node offers a low-cost solution for any multichannel MPEG over IP application. Zephyr iPort features two Ethernet ports: one to connect to the Livewire network, and another for connection to the WAN, maintaining full isolation between the two networks for security purposes.

Zephyr iPort also offers a comprehensive selection of connection protocols from which to choose. There are standard MPEG Layer 2, Layer 3, AAC and aacPlus choices, plus low-delay AAC-LD and high-efficiency low-delay AAC-LD+HE, both with special error resilience protection that conceals low levels of random packet loss. Zephyr iPort also includes AAC-HE+PS (High Efficiency + Perceptual Stereo), allowing stereo operation down to 32kbps.

Visitors to NAB2007 can see Zephyr iPort in booth #N7726. For more information, visit www.Telos-Systems.com or www.AxiaAudio.com.
