University of Iowa turns to UTAH-400 router
The University of Iowa has installed a Utah Scientific UTAH-400 HD router, an SC-4 control system and a SoftPanel-1 software panel as part of its upgrade from analog to digital.
The university was attracted to the UTAH-400 because of its analog compatibility. Most of its existing master control system is composed of analog channels. To minimize its initial investment, the university chose to install a sparsely populated 144 x 144 matrix with the intent of expanding the router with digital cards to accommodate future growth. The university anticipates the router will last at least a decade.
The university will rely on the versatility of the UTAH-400 to input a single feed and output it in multiple formats for an MPEG-2 encoder, analog Cat 5 modulators, and digital SD and HD satellite uplink.
