VCube upgrades Mosfilm’s Tonestudios
Tonestudios, the largest recording complex in the Russian Federation, recently upgraded its playout and record capabilities with Merging’s VCube SD computer-based video player/recorders.
Based in Moscow on the grounds of the former state film production company Mosfilm, Tonestudios was upgraded by Russian distributor, BINAR.
Existing video servers were replaced with nine VCube SD units, all networked via one of Merging’s Luxor media servers. The new systems consist of two VCube recorders for video capture and seven VCube SD playback machines connected via gigabit Ethernet cables to a modular switcher to a Luxor server, which has a 6TB RAID array for project storage.
The VCube systems can all be controlled via Sony nine-pin protocol from the studios’ various computer-based DAWs, and also from their SSL mixing consoles.
