ViewCast encoders stream 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards
A pair of ViewCast Niagara Pro media encoders were used to stream the recent 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards live over the Internet to 30 million viewers from more than 45 countries. The encoders allowed fans to watch the 15th annual awards show, live from Liverpool’s Echo Arena, on their computers and mobile devices.
At the 2008 MTV Europe Music Awards, production company Garland Partners of the UK worked with the Niagara Pro encoders to provide professional-quality live streaming of Adobe Flash and Windows Media Player 9 content, which in turn were delivered to Akamai for live streaming on www.mtvema.com/.
The Niagara Pro dual-channel encoder is a rack-mountable media appliance capable of delivering two channels of full D1 high-quality streaming video. ViewCast’s SimulStream technology enables simultaneous streaming of multiple resolutions at multiple data rates in multiple streaming formats. The Niagara Pro features three preprogrammable buttons that allow users to execute predefined encoding profiles simply by pressing a single button on the encoder's front panel.
