At IBC2004, Vizrt demonstrated the fruits of a collaboration with NVIDIA to provide increased value and speed for real-time HD graphics production.
By adding NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 and FX 4000 SDI professional graphics boards to its viz|engine 3-D rendering solution, HD graphics can be produced in real time on readily available PC workstations.
In some of Vizrt's application-based tests comparing the NVIDIA Quadro FX 4000 with the previously used board of the same class, the rendering performance of viz|engine has shown increases in speed of up to 1000 percent. In one of the tests looking at pixel-fill performance with full-scene anti-aliasing, the viz|engine rendered 70 full PAL resolution layers (blended, shaded and textured) with the Quadro FX 4000 card, which is 20 times more layers than previously possible.
