Wheatstone upgrades Vorsis VP-8 audio processor
Vorsis, a division of Wheatstone, has released a software upgrade for its VP-8 multimode audio processor. The new software, version 1.5.0, expands the unit’s capabilities from two to four operational modes, adding FM-HD and AM-HD to the existing AM and FM-with-stereo-decoder modes. Both the new FM-HD and AM-HD modes contain DSP algorithms that condition audio output for application to iBiquity’s HD Radio codec.
The VP-8 is designed for automatic audio conditioning based on the selected transport medium. Audio is preprocessed by a phase-linear four-band automatic gain control, by an eight-band limiter and then by a final-stage clipping limiter. Changing output modes is easily accomplished without reboot via the unit’s Windows-based user interface.
