Wildcat Films captures ‘Planet Earth’ images with S.two data recorders
UK-based Wildcat Films used S.two recorders on-location in the Antarctic to capture uncompressed data during production of images for the BBC/Discovery documentary “Planet Earth.”
Looking to preserve the highest quality, producers on the shoot took the uncompressed 4:4:4 output of the camera — mounted on a Gimbal on the nose of a helicopter — directly into an S-two DFR system and its removable D-MAG hard drives. TheDFR held up to the high vibration and adverse conditions with ease. The system’s Autoslate function became invaluable in organizing and adding metadata to the wildlife sequences.
