XOrbit to show expanded UltraCast FCC reporting capability
At NAB2008, XOrbit will unveil a prototype of a new FCC compliance reporting function in its UltraCast closed-captioning and video data insertion system.
XOrbit is expanding UltraCast's reporting capabilities to help smooth the way for broadcasters in complying with the FCC's upcoming enhanced disclosure requirements, which include quarterly filing of the new highly detailed Form 355.
XOrbit's UltraCast is a complete hardware/software solution for cable and network TV broadcasters seeking to lower their total cost of closed-captioning. UltraCast provides server-based captioning and video data insertion through automated encoding technology.
UltraCast interfaces with existing automation servers to obtain real-time playlist events. Then, the system responds by encoding closed-captioning, V-chip and other metadata into the outgoing video signal at the time of air.
While UltraCast already provides click-and-print FCC compliance reports along with as-run and other custom reporting options, the new capabilities are aimed at generating the data broadcasters need to complete Form 355.
