Zumobi introduces beta form of open mobile Web platfom
Zumobi has launched the beta version of its open mobile Web platform, with free downloads of its zooming user interface and mobile “widgets” available directly from the company’s Web site.
The platform lets users access, retrieve and share Web-based content on their mobile phones. Through the interface, people can “bounce” in and out of “snack-sized” bits of entertainment and news content. Content is available from more than 75 mobile widgets or “tiles,” including several from Zumobi launch partners, including AccuWeather.com, Amazon, the Associated Press and MTV Networks. The platform has been optimized for Web 2.0 functionality, and is available for phones running Windows Mobile 5 and 6, with Blackberry and selected J2ME compatibility expected early in the second quarter of 2008.
Zumobi has also unveiled a beta version of Zumobi SDK for developers, which enables them to create their own tiles. It can be downloaded through http://dev.zumobi.com.
