ABC News streams news, VOD news segments to Smartphones
SmartVideo Technologies and ABC News will provide live news coverage and VOD via cellular Smartphones to SmartVideo subscribers, according to a joint announcement made Jan. 6 at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
Mobile phone subscribers will have access to ABC News Now, the 24-hour, seven day per week streaming news channel, and daily on-demand video from ABC News, including reports from "World News Tonight with Peter Jennings" and "Good Morning America."
SmartVideo delivers live television at an average of 15 frames per second to low bandwidth devices operating on the 2.5GHz cellular network. This collaboration is an innovative way of delivering news to millions of people worldwide.
With Windows Powered Smartphones, subscribers to the SmartVideo service can watch a selection of live and on-demand television programs on their handsets. An entry-level subscription costs $12.95 per month.
