Adtec celebrates 20th anniversary as video content solutions provider
Digital distribution and commercial insertion provider Adtec Digital will celebrate its 20th year of providing video content solutions in 2005. As a student at Tennessee Technological University in Cookeville, the company’s vice president of sales and marketing, Ron Johnson, developed in the early 1980s an analog, closed-circuit television system to inform students about campus-related activities. Two fellow students, Andre Ancelin and David Cook, joined Johnson and developed an automated control system television stations could use in scheduling videotaped programs -- giving birth to Adtec Productions.
By the mid-1990s, Adtec switched its focus to MPEG technologies. Today, it designs and manufactures technology for digital television delivery, IP streaming, commercial insertion and multimedia digital video applications.
