The 12TB Spectrum system at STAR will support ingest, storage and playout for its numerous broadcasts, which include more than 50 television services in eight languages, transmitted to more than 300 million viewers across 53 Asian countries.
Omneon Video Networks announced that STAR, one of Asia’s major media and entertainment companies, has ordered an Omneon Spectrum media server system for its multichannel broadcast facility in Hong Kong.
The 12TB Spectrum system will support ingest, storage and playout for STAR broadcasts, which include more than 50 television services in eight languages, transmitted to more than 300 million viewers across 53 Asian countries.
The fully redundant Spectrum media server system ordered for STAR’s headquarters office in Hung Hom will be capable of delivering 1193 hours of playout with an initial configuration of 25 I/O ports. The Omneon server system will operate under the control of a large-scale automation solution from Sundance Digital.
In addition to primary and backup servers, Omneon also will be supplying a third system that will be installed off-site to ensure continued playout in the event of a disaster.
