Avocent enhances KVM switching solutions for Avid systems

Avocent has enhanced the AMX keyboard, video and mouse switching solution to support a wide range of Avid broadcast products.

Avocent has added enhancements and support to the Avocent AMX keyboard, video and mouse (KVM) switching solution that delivers an efficient way to access and control multiple Avid products from the workspace of one or more broadcast engineers.

The enhancements support a wide range of Avid broadcast products, including Avid NewsCutter and Media Composer Adrenaline digital nonlinear editing systems, Symphony Nitris and Avid DS Nitris finishing systems, Avid Deko graphics systems and the Avid Xpress family editing tools. Using Avocent’s AMWorks Java-based system administration software, users can define groups of server outputs, like the Bin Monitor and Composer Monitor outputs of Avid Media Composer Adrenaline, and groups of displays, such as the Bin Monitor and Composer Monitor at the edit desk, so that when users select a new server on the primary monitor, the secondary monitor automatically follows.

Unlike fixed-dual head systems, the Avocent AMWorks software can support up to 31 server outputs in a server group and 31 slave displays in a group.
