At last month’s Digital Retailing Expo in San Franscisco, Avocent introduced the company’s AutoView Wireless solution for driving audio and video content to multiple networked screens – without VGA cables. The wireless transmitter technology and receiver is based on the IEEE’s 802.11a wireless standard operating in the 5.2GHz spectrum. It eliminates radio interference with other wireless devices that commonly use the 802.11b standard.
Each AutoView wireless transmitter can support up to eight display devices – including plasma monitors, LCD screens and projectors. It can transmit content 100ft through three walls, or up to 300ft without obstructions. The solution employs advanced encryption standard (AES) security and uses a proprietary compression engine to transmit 24-bit color content at XGA (1024x768) resolution and up to 30fps.
