Canon releases free XL2 software developers kit
A version of the SDK for the Windows XP platform is currently available. An Apple Macintosh version is due in mid-July.
Canon has released an XL2 software developers kit (SDK) to enhance the camcorder's flexibility.
With the SDK, developers can create applications to control all camera functions remotely. By using a FireWire (IEEE 1394) connection, users are able to control all of the XL2 camcorder's advanced functions. Examples include switching frame rates and adjusting color gain and white balance controls.
A version of the SDK for the Windows XP platform is available now, and a version for Mac OSX operating system will be available in mid-July. The SDK is free.
