Crisp Wireless and VDS partner on interactive TV services
The new suite of applications allows broadcasters and advertisers to tightly integrate wireless communications with many aspects of the television broadcast facility, in order to create new sources of revenue.
Crisp Wireless and Video Design Software (VDS) have developed an integrated suite of applications designed to broadcast content to mobile phones.
The companies said their system allows broadcasters and advertisers to tightly integrate wireless communications with many aspects of the television broadcast facility, and will create new sources of revenue for broadcasters from the emerging wireless medium.
Consumers will be able to receive information and interact with television programming and content including currently playing commercial spots. Information about scheduled content being broadcast from any particular channel could be provided to any wireless customer. TV viewers will be able to stay in touch with favorite TV shows anytime and anywhere.
The VDS automation applications, which will benefit from integration with the products of Crisp Wireless include: branding and titling used in the automated generation of titles for music videos; ‘Coming Up’ segments that provide viewers with scheduled content; and automated network, show and sponsor logo generation. Also affected is NewsTicker, which inserts a continuous ticker type crawl into programming segments.
A “Text To Air” feature allows the TV station to quickly approve and insert the text messaging displays from e-mails or SMS/MMS into a TV program. “Tally To Air” drives live mobile and online poll results to air, usually as live update regions on a graphics system. GameBug provides a suite of integrated graphics controllers for displaying up-to-date sporting event scores in a “bug” format.
