Curious Eye Productions impressed with wide-angle ENG lens
The A13x6.3 wide-angle ENG lens features a focal length of 6.3mm and magnification of 13x.
Since summer, Curious Eye Productions co-owners Mike Horine and Anna Jaffe have put their new Fujinon A13x6.3 wide-angle ENG lens to use on a Panasonic DVCPro 910 camera for a variety of productions, including documentary assignments, regional news coverage for national news organizations and a PBS series.
According to Horine, the lens changes the way he sees stories and that impacts the way clients think of his company. Clients often don’t fully understand the technology behind Curious Eye’s footage, but they “recognize a stunning image,” he said.
The Fujinon internal focus mechanism is a significant benefit in news shooting, according to Horine. The inner focus mechanism found in Fujinon lenses makes them compact and lightweight. Although Horine has used Fujinon lenses for newsgathering for more than 30 years, the A13x6.3 has “improved the quality of our images considerably,” he said.
Curious Eye has shot a wide range of projects with its new Fujinon lens, from a series for PBS called “Culinary Travels with Dave Eckert,” material for CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360 degree,” the CBS “Early Show,” as well as news reports for many of the national networks.
The A13x6.3 wide-angle ENG lens features a focal length of 6.3mm and magnification of 13x (82mm focal length at telephoto end and 164mm with a 2x extender).
