The Discovery Channel cable network’s parent company Discovery Communications recently decided to expand its use of Teranex video processors to meet cross-conversion needs for its increasingly popular Discovery HD and international HD services. The company has been using Teranex platforms for the past four years and has received regular software upgrades from Teranex in that time.
Teranex's 3RU and 6RU Video Computer platforms perform more than 15 trillion operations per second and allow for rapid tuning of software algorithms. Discovery has been using the Teranex 6RU most recently to convert HD 1080i60 content from the U.S. to 1080i50 for European distribution.
