GlobeCast, PanAmSat, Scientific-Atlanta introduce end-to-end satellite platform

The new platform, a venture of Globecast, PanAmSat and Scientific-Atlanta, is well-suited for delivery of live HD events, such as sports and concerts, as well as pay-per-view, time-shifted and syndicated shows on a part-time or occasional basis.
The offering includes:
- Turnkey service: including encoding, uplink and satellite space
- PanAmSat’s powerful new Galaxy 13 satellite, the nation’s strongest HDTV cable neighborhood satellite
- Connectivity: Los Angeles uplink offers instant local access for studios, post facilities and programmers via satellite downlink and HD-ready access ports at key video hubs in Los Angeles. Access in New York and Miami is available via GlobeCast’s fiber network through points-of-presence
- Scientific-Atlanta’s PowerVu content distribution and HD encoding technology
