Grass Valley launches MPEG-4 HD encoder for ViBE platform
By TVTechnology
published The new Grass Valley ViBE MPEG-4 AVC HD encoder is specifically designed to meet the demands of broadcasters looking to start HD services as soon as possible.
With MPEG-4 now standardized as H.264/AVC, it holds the promise of halving the bit rate required by MPEG-2 for equivalent quality — that is delivering an HD channel in the bandwidth currently required for just two MPEG-2 SD channels.
The ViBE MPEG-4 AVC encoder also has a replaceable board to enable future upgrades with virtually no service disruption and no additional cost.
