MBCO to rely on 4Caster for real-time H.264 encoding
Mobile Broadcasting Corporation (MBCO) has selected the Envivio 4Caster H.264 (MPEG-4 AVC) encoding system to support expansion of its MobaHO! service, a satellite digital multimedia broadcasting service for personal and mobile device use.
The 4Caster real-time systems will encode the live feeds for delivery to devices throughout Japan.
MobaHO! launched in 2004, makes it possible for subscribers to view and listen to multimedia programming. It may offer 30 audio channels, including overseas FM radio and genre-specific music, and at least eight video channels, including news, sports, and entertainment programming.
Video delivery of the current service is accomplished using MPEG-4 simple profile technology. To further enhance service quality, MBCO will begin broadcasting with Envivio H.264 technology.
