Neve launches new 5.1 compressor
The 8051 surround compressor is based on a circuit design first used in the classic 2254 limiter/compressor designed by Neve in 1969 but with enhanced flexibility. An interface controls side chain routing and filtering across the six channels. Front panel controls are clear and simple to use, allowing mixing and mastering engineers to control sound simply and directly.
Six fully-transformer-balanced audio paths are provided and complemented by two side chains and a key input. Fully discrete audio paths and the negative feedback circuit design ensure that the compressor provides the vintage Neve sound of the 33609JD stereo compressor.
It is available in two versions. The standard version features continuously variable rotary controls. The mastering version offers indented rotary controls for matching and repeatability.
