Norwegian telecom installs Entone VOD technology
The StreamLiner VOD server software, develped by Entone, turns standard HP and IBM server hardware into video servers without the costs, risks and inflexibility that comes with competing hardware-based solutions.
Entone Technologies has announced that Norwegian telecommunications company, Lyse Tele AS, has purchased Entone’s full suite of VOD products for the creation, management, and delivery of digital assets.
Entone products sold to Lyse Tele AS include the StreamLiner video server and the Armada intelligent asset manager. The VOD server software, Entone said, turns standard HP and IBM server hardware into video servers without the costs, risks and inflexibility that comes with competing hardware-based solutions.
The Armada asset manager is a dynamic runtime system for distributing and cost-optimizing the placement of VOD assets across a network of video servers.
Lyse Tele currently has over 25,000 subscribers located throughout Norway and plans to increase this to 200,000 in the next five years. The initial VOD deployment is a hybrid architecture comprised of multiple centralized servers and several regional sites, with all IP networked platforms managed by Entone’s Armada intelligent asset manager.
The Entone VOD solution being deployed at Lyse is being integrated with products from other vendors including Tandberg Television, IBM, Kreatel and Latens.
