Prime TV streamlines digital newsroom workflow
Prime TV New Zealand has begun using the DaletPlus News Suite to produce and broadcast the new “Paul Holmes” current affairs program.
The installation gives Prime TV an end-to-end news production and playout workflow that integrates Sony’s XDCAM, Omneon Video Networks’ video servers, Avid’s editors, Chyron’s character generators and BDL’s Autoscript.
Prime TV first installed a Dalet-based solution at four news centers in Australia in 2004. The system for the New Zealand operation was deployed during the first half of 2005.
DaletPlus streamlined Prime TV’s entire newsroom workflow by managing content and metadata from ingest to archive. User-friendly tools let Prime TV journalists easily access content, make shot selections, assemble stories and send everything to Avid editors for finishing from their desktop. The show producer can review and approve news packages and stories in progress at any point during the production process. Upon approval, DaletPlus transfers show material to the Omneon Spectrum video server for playout. DaletPlus converts broadcasted material into low-resolution proxies and migrates to online storage for efficient archiving and re-use.
