Silicon Graphics has launched its SGI Open Broadcast Initiative to deliver a more open system choice approach to ease broadcasters' transition to a digital IT infrastructure.
Leveraging SGI’s expertise with broadcast partners and designing all-digital workflow environments, the SGI Open Broadcast Initiative brings together broadcast products regardless of vendor origination with the implementation of scalable SGI broadcast system architectures.
SGI has initially formed non-exclusive alliances with Omneon and Pinnacle Systems for integration of the companies' Spectrum media servers and nonlinear editing systems in a total SGI broadcast solution.
