Sky Sports to use Sony XDCAM kit on British & Irish Lions Tour
XDCAM equipment will be used to cover 11 rugby matches next month during the British & Irish Lions Tour in New Zealand.
U.K.-based broadcast equipment rental and sales company Gearhouse Broadcast is supplying two Sony PDW-530P camcorders, one Sony PDW-1500 deck and two Sony PDW-V1 mobile decks to Sky Sports for coverage of the British & Irish Lions Tour, a rugby event due to kick off in New Zealand on June 4. Sky Sports will show the 11 matches live across nine venues in New Zealand.
Sky Sports Rugby and Sky Sports News will use the XDCAM equipment in a “roving reporter” mode to capture the emotion and comments pitch-side and subsequently to prepare highlights and interview packages to be broadcast in the U.K.
