The Weather Channel adds new Canon lenses as part of HD preparations

Canon's HJ17ex7.7B IRSE HDTV lenses offer Canon’s 16:9/4:3 Crossover Technology as an option.

The Weather Channel has added seven new Canon HJ17ex7.7B IRSE HDTV lenses to its Ikegami HDK-75EX HDTV cameras at three studios.

Durability, reliability and stability were major priorities for The Weather Channel, which broadcasts live material 21 hours a day.

Canon’s new HJ17ex7.7B takes HD portability and studio use even further as it replaces the widely used HJ16x8B. It is a fast lens (f 1.8), and features the performance of e-HDxs that uses Canon’s X-Element and Power Optical System for the highest-quality optics in a robust, compact and lightweight housing that weighs in at just 3.83lbs. The lens offers Canon’s 16:9/4:3 Crossover Technology as an option.
